The Delaware Chapter of ASPA presents An Overview of Democracy around the World: Indices to Measure and Why It Matters.
This presentation, led by Maria P. Aristigueta, Charles P. Messick Chair Emerita of Public Administration of the Joseph R. Biden, Jr. School of Public Policy and Administration at the University of Delaware., will discuss the status of democracy around the world, including the United States of America.
The discussion will include indices that are used to measure the status in each of the countries, with particular emphasis on the Economist Intelligence Index and Varieties for Democracy Index, including a description of classification systems currently available. Most importantly, the presentation will conclude why democracy matters and its potential shortcomings.
